The key to building a consistent, reliable, winning racing engine goes beyond great machine work. A clean engine building process is absolutely essential the life of a motor. The components must be kept free of dust, lint, and any other microscopic particles that can "latch" on to engine parts. L.R.E. takes the necessary time to clean each individual rod, piston, ring, bearing, gasket, and every other component used. Tools are also kept clean to avoid transferring any debris. All of this cleaning takes time, but good engine builders know the importance of cleanliness. Long Racing Engines employs two professional, well trained, experienced engine builders. Every engine that comes through the shop is handled by one of these two builders. Every component that is put into the engine is checked and double checked to ensure proper operating tolerances. When you decide to let L.R.E. build your engine, you can be sure that the camshaft events are correct, there is adequate piston to cylinder head clearance as well as piston to valve clearance, correct crank and cam end play, proper ring end gap, correct valve lash and proper torque specifications. Each engine is also pre-primed to avoid a dry start and possible engine bearing problems. This also allows the builder make sure the oil pump is producing sufficient pressure. There are far to many things that go into building a championship caliber engine to list in the pages here. Please call with any questions and one of our professionals will be glad to talk to you about our intricate, precise building process. |
